The 24 year old Saxophonist, based in Nuremberg (Germany) started playing saxophone at the age of 16. Since then, his musical interests weren't just pure Jazzmusic. He also worked a lot in the Hip-Hop scene, as in Salsa, Rock and Pop, Rhythm n Blues.After studying two years in Mannheim with Jürgen Seefelder, he now spends his "lesson-time" inWürzburg with Leszek Zadlo. Moreover he spent some time in New York, where he was studyingwith Jay Rodriguez and Rick Margitza. Furthermore, he performed with Maria Schneider's JazzOrchestra and recorded his debut CD with Joey Calderazzo, Mike Richmond and Billy Hart.In 1997 he won the Jazz-Award of the Public Television Station MDR Kultur and is invited toperform with his group at the Leverkusener Jazztage at the European Jazz Competition.Lutz works regularly with his own Quartet, the Sunday Night Orchestra in Nuremberg, Jazzensemble Franco-Allemand, Ron Spielman Band, Come Rain Come Shine, Nelson CruzOrchestra. In the last years he has been performing for radio stations such as BR, HR, SR, SDR,WDR, RIAS, MDR

Albert Mangelsdorff, Peter Herbolzheimer, BundesJazzOrchester, Karl Ratzer, Roman Schwaller, Duduka Da Fonseca, Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Bobby Sanabria, Maria Schneider's JazzOrchestra, Jerry Bergonzi, Claus Stötter, Conte Candoli, Benny Bailey, Dusko Goykovich, Bamberger Symphoniker, Phil Wilson, Bob Florence, Al Porcino, GURU, Deborah Henson-Contant, Wolfgang Haffner, Ack van Royen, Joey Calderazzo, Mike Richmond, Billy Hart.

At the moment he is working on his new CD: new sounds & rhythms will be heard on this one. This CD will be preproduced mostly at home with Miro "da lifespica ", Chill, PacOne, Dee Arno etc. and completed at the West Coast of th U.S. with Hollywood-based Co-Producer Nel Jerome.

Lutz Häfner won an International Jazz Prize of
"Nürnberger Nachrichten" in 1998.
